​Steps of fiber optic fusion

Step 1: ​A fiber optic stripper removes the first plastic layer of the fiber optic cable after that it can be placed inside the fiber optic splicer.

Step 2: ​We introduce a fusion protection sleeve to protect the bare fiber as shown in Figure below.

​Step 3: After that we use a cleaning wipe usually isopropyl alcohol to remove the wasters that may remain.

Step 4: After that we cut the fiber and for that we use device​ called Fiber optic cleaver or cutter that has a blade to cut the fiber optic at 90 degrees. We cut the fiber up to the length of 17 mm using the cleaver and this is shown in Figure below.

​Step 5: now we put the optical fiber into the fusion splicer and place it close to electrodes as shown in Figure below.

​We do the same process with other fiber end and close the clamps. We make sure that both the fibers that we want to join are close to electrodes but without joining each other as shown below.

​After that we close the shield of Fiber optical splicer and its screen will show the two fiber optics on the screen and they will be automatically aligned vertically and horizontally.
